They've been "discontinued" multiple times between 2010 and now. Don't expect it to actually happen.

There's been rumors of it ever since 2010, but the news about it being discontinued in may of '14 is straight from Toyota itself. In the past its just been speculation, but they have actually released formal statements about it, so unfortunately, I thinks it's finally happening. Makes sense, sales are down, they sell less than 30k of them a year, its a niche vehicle and isn't very practical. Those who own and appreciate them love them, just solidifies the fact that I'm never going to sell it.

I was in a Toyota showroom just yesterday, I sat in a brand new FJ. Od green with a lift and awesome tires. Coolest ride man. I'll be sad to see them go. I'm afraid we may see more vehicles like this disappear as the years go on, all the sissy boys and girls are switching to fuel effienct vehicles. Sure gas prices the way they are it seems logical to switch but come on man, these are so cool!

from a business standpoint, Toyota wasnt selling very much of them compared to other inventory. discontinuing them for a couple years will drive up value...

When i bought my truck last month the salesman I worked with said they were going away. Not a great seller I guess. I think they are cool, but I wouldn't drive one.

I like FJ's, but I see 20 or 30 Wrangler 4-doors (mostly driven by women) for every FJ. They could probably sell more if the top came off.
