Mainly Osceola's but do have some easterns. I think the Osceola's are harder to hunt to I always like hunting them. But I love hunting any turkey

Also, I've always wondered where there ranges crossed if they will interbreed?

No cross breeding........two different birds.

Their population boundries cross depending on terrain.

I'm sure they have some where, at least I would think they would. During spring time I dont think they care if the hen is the same as them or not!

after a minute on google.......I stand corrected......I have no ego, I know...

Hybrid or intergrade turkeys are found in areas where two or more subspecies occur; these birds may exhibit characteristics of one or the other subspecies, characteristics of both subspecies, or characteristics between the two subspecies.

so it does occur....Ived never noticed any inbetween characteristics....lol

I was just curious, not trying to start anything. Now, I can't help to wonder "if" those hybrid birds are sterile, like a mule.

We need to release some Rio Grands around here and see what happens. We'll have to think of a name for them though.

My little boy did get one Sunday. He was so excited but not near as excited as I was. I only started turkey hunting 2 years ago because he wanted to start going, I was always a deer hunter. This was the first time I ever called so I was super glad I didn't screw up & ruin his chances. Before I hunted with a friend who did all the calling.

Congrats to both of you! Turkey hunting is all about the calling. I have no problem not taking my gun and calling for a buddy. It can be challanging but it pays off when you can get that gobbler close enough for a shot. Thats a good looking bird. What kind of beard did he have?
