Since we are on the topic of performance, I took my truck out to Palm Beach International Raceway last night. I went down the track nine times with an average quarter-mile time of 15.993 seconds. Out of all the trucks there, I was the only Toyota. I also only lost two of those races. One of them was a single cab short bed Silverado that clearly had work done and racing slicks. He beat me by about four seconds. LOL. The other was a heavily modified F250 diesel. The truck was sponsored and just there to show off, but he only beat me by about a second.

It was a damp night out, and many of the trucks just couldn't get any traction. I guess the Tacoma has a major advantage since it is so light. Of course the announcer initially tried talking a lot of crap about Toyota, but that stopped after I started beating all of the domestic trucks.

Another idiot decided that he wanted to burn out until he literally lit his tires on fire. And what I say they were new, I mean they were brand-new tires. He had just put them on about a week ago. He did this all for a $100 gift card. hopefully can put that hundred dollars towards the $500 cost to replace both of his tires.

Nice Dan! And what a fool to do that to those tires. I guess he has money to burn!

Guys, as for the Tacoma re-design, I'm glad that I didn't trade in my '08 PreRunner for a 4WD like I almost did last year. I'll see how the 2016 looks & I'll give it another year or 2 to work out any 1st year redesign issues.

Although, it may not be so redesigned as some people would hope. Personally, I would be happy with getting the same engine that the 4Runner brings and maybe a 6-speed auto tranny. That combo would give the Tacoma more power AND fuel efficiency.

I wouldn't mind a bit more room in the interior either.

And a better job with the ADD actuator & replace the needle bearing on the transfer case instead of us having to buy it from ECGS. That way, when you lift a 4WD, which a lot of owners do, it won't get that stupid front diff vibe.

I believe that the 4runner and the Tacoma have the same 4.0 engine.
the only difference is that the 4runner doesn't come with the 4cyl.
option. as far as I know.

I just really want to see Toyota come out with something diesel weather
its the Tacoma 4runner or tundra..... SOMETHING........ lol

I initially thought the same thing but apparently the 4Runner has Dual VVTI or something that enhances the power output.

It's also supposed to do 1 or 2 more MPG's better than the Tacoma.

    2014 4Runner
    Torque: 278 ft-lbs. @ 4400 rpm
    Horsepower: 270 hp @ 5600 rpm

    2014 Tacoma 4.0
    Torque: 266 lb.-ft. @ 4,000 rpm
    Horsepower: 236hp @ 5,200 rpm

Very Interesting...I now wonder how my truck with some mods would run, of course taking off those big heavy off road tires.

    HAHA!

Same to you & everyone else here!

Regarding the performance of these trucks, I found this info almost a month ago:

    TundraRacing.com
Lowering Kit for 2005-15 Tacoma Prerunner & 4x4
Fitment: Regular Cab, Access & Double Cab Models
    Lowers Front 2" / Rear 3.5"

With a suspension like this & 30" diameter tires these trucks should perform well.

Installed my Warn M-8000...!!! The install is very easy, no need to extend the cables to the drum like you had to do in the past.
Came out awesome, and the box fits nice in between the LightForce..!!
