Hey guys, I'm new here and have been a fan for a bit. I inherited a '99 prerunner sr5 (2.7l 4 banger) and it runs really well for having 170k miles on it. It was well maintained but has been banged up a bit over the years. I'm saving up some money and want to do a restoration/upgrade to it. Essentially I would like a new truck out of it. I'll have about 5-6 grand to throw at it. Here is my dilemma. I can't find a good trustworthy place in south Florida that doesn't cost an arm and a leg cuz the do ferraris. I'm willing to come up north a bit (port st lucie or so) but not too much.

I essentially want to restore it to new and lift it a bit...that's all. Maybe some upgrades under the hood but I'd like someone with some know how that could make the suggestion. Any help would be much appreciated.

you should sand and prep the whole truck and do a little body work your self if it needs it. and then you can go to macco and buy a good quality paint and pay for top notch service from them. OR you could buy 20 cans of a pro grade rustolium spray color than you like and go to town. Its not a bad looking paint job and it holds up pretty well.

just keep in mind a good gallon of paint at a shop can cost any where from $200- $1000

Does anyone know of a good mechanic? I have a plan of what I want to do and how to do it, I need a good mechanic in south florida that can fix the mechanical portion of my restoration. Just mechanical. I have someone already for body work and paint. Thank again
