well then, Toyota gave me another call about my truck to update me, I guess my fuel sensor or whatever it is that tells you how much gas you have in your tank ended up breaking and was false on how much I had. Had supposedly about 1/4 of a tank left and in reality......my tank was empty and pretty much caused my fuel pump to die

 

Dam that sucks, horrible chain of events there.

 

I'll do some searching, but I haven't seen it done one a 2nd gen.

Reset the codes, put the old cap on and haven't had them come back.

I think I'm gonna put it back on Tomorrow and drive around, maybe I didn't have it threaded all the way or something. I really wanted it to work.

I still cant believe how insecure Toyota made these trucks. No locking gas cap/door, no lock on all those bed cubbies, and no lock on the center console or glove box.

 

khaos, i recall correctly, there were 2 types of stant locking caps for our trucks, I think one had the triangle pattern on the side (mine) and there was another one, what type of locking pattern do you have on the side?

 

im happy now, I have my baby back ^_^ was good to hear her start up again

 

It is threaded, not the triangle pattern. I noticed this earlier when I was switching the caps at work. However, my factory cap IS the the triangle and not threaded. Yet all the threads I read on here and TN said the exact opposite and listed 10504 as the correct part number.

 

did u buy it at walmart? i'd get the other one and try it out, can't hurt, i've never even thought twice about mine, i'm almost pos mine is the triangle one with maybe 1-2 threads

 

Got it cheap off Amazon. They'd probably swap it out. I haven't had any luck grabbing one from Walmart or Vatozone out here.

CRAP it's colddddd!!!!got in the truck this morning to head to work around 0530...Truck said 38.......WTF over!!! Plus pool pump kicked on last night. Automatically kicks on round 34 to keep the pipes from freezing...Ii hate the cold!!!!!
