My son's an official hunter now, took his hunters safety course this morning & passed.

 

Wish my father had taken me hunting when I was a kid.
Still have never been and am always wanting to go. Him and my much older brother went hundreds of times before I was born. Shitty.

 

I've been taking my son to the woods since he was 4 yrs old. He's 16 now & has to have a license to be legal & to get a license had to pass the safety course.

100% with you,, look up the hunting license sales in Fla for the last few years its getting smaller & smaller .. FN liberal teachers are brainwashing our kids with hunting is bad K ..

 

Those people are ignorant & they are the first to bitch when they hit a deer with their high dollar cars or when deer eat their plants & flowers.

Good deal! Glad my dad took me when I was young, took all three of us kids at once back when I was 10. He had taken us out in the woods like you said at 4-5 years old squirrel hunting been hunting ever since. First thing I had Lindsey do was get her hunter safety course when we started dating. Now she's a better hunter than myself, She's good with the bow at least.

 

I tried to get him into shooting a bow with us but he never really took to it. He gravitated more to the crossbow so I bought him a Barnett, which cost less than a compound & came ready to shoot so that worked out.

 

Yea the crossbows these days are beasts. 90% of the hunting I do is with the compound, from the time I picked one up it was addicting. Y'all have lease land or public you hunt?

 

I like my bow but when it's legal for gun the bow gets put away, I like to be able to read out & touch them. haha
We hunted WMA's until my son was old enough to go then we started leasing in Ga. It made it easier with him being able to have shooting houses & double ladders plus we could leave them up all season, safer with only 5 guys & better chance for him to see deer.
Right now we're between leases but looking for a place in north Fl maybe like Perry. Ga is great but a nonresident license is $300 & this year he has to have one so land plus 2 licenses is just too much. So it's back to Fl where we can get licenses cheap & spend a little more on land.

 

Yea We do a lot of wma hunting here in central fl. Have a lease in NC that is good hunting just didn't make it up last year with school and all. But dad is looking into a lease in volusia county called the Miami tract hunt club, used to be a huge wma called farmton. It's been lease now for around 15 years. I have done son hunting in liberty county just west of Tallahassee on a buds lease and seen some good deer up there.

 

Yeah we want to be in the northern part of Fl. We like to find smaller tracts so we can afford it with just family & friends, the most people we've ever had was 8 on like 400 acres but that was a little tight. We're gonna try to keep it at like 4 or 5.
Hell I didnt even hunt last year, 3 people backed out & had to let the lease go then my brother in law said I could hunt at his place & then we had a fallen out. He didnt want me to hunt unless he was there so I told him to shove it up his ass, after all I did for him if it wasnt for me he would've never got into hunting, we let him hunt for free the 1st year, used our guns & stands. Havent talked to him since & that was in September when season started. haha
