beer can chicken

I made this a while back and will make it again this week and let you know how it goes. For this recipe you will need

1 chicken, size doesn't matter ( or does it)
1 24 oz beer, half empty
1 grill preferably charcoal
some wood for cooking, either hickory or oak, it doesn't matter
chicken rub (make your own, or if you want one, I will post later)

preheat the grill to 250 degrees. place chicken on beer can, I find that the bigger the beer can the easier the chicken sits up, kind of like a tripod. place the chicken away from the heat source (indirectly) cook chicken for 4 hours until meat is 180 degrees, use meat thermometre to check for doneness. The meat will pull apart, there is no need to cut it. This is something I thought up myself, try it, and let me know how it goes. cheers

I like your thinking! A half of beer for the chicken & half for you!

Actually, this has been around for a long time now. They sell the holders (for the beer can) at many stores that sell BBQ accessories...and yes, it is very tasty too.....
