Nice job

Which saw do you have ?

 

I have a Dewalt 10" double bevel compound sliding saw. It was about $500 from Lowes, but I got a free Dewalt stand with it (about $120).

The only thing I'm not sure about the saw is there are incremental degree markings for tilting it sideways but only a few settings are notched so it doesn't hold at the other settings. It didn't look like there was any way to set the saw for a couple of degrees off the notched settings. It locks in a 0, 22.5, 33.9 and 45. At 15, there is a slight notch but it will move to another setting if pushed.

 

Most saws I have used don't have detents for the bevel action .

 

All the saw I have ever used do.

 

I'm talking bevel , not mitre

 

Sometime this week or next I will began putting new siding, doors, windows, plantation shutters, and insulation on my house. I will post pics.

 

Your right I was thinking the wrong way, got alot of cold medicine working on me today. All the bevel cut don`t have notches. Sorry!!

Thanks!! My wife and 2 kids and I keep passing it back and forth. Bad time of the year to have a 10 yr old and a 11 1/2 yr old. the catch everything!!!

 

So I am looking to build an outdoor tv cabinet that is weatherproof. I plan on mounting the cabinet on the rear wall of my house and plan to remove the TV from staying outside during the hot and cold times (live in Tx, weather changes all the time). Has anybody done this and has good ideals?????

And I plan on putting at least a 42 inch flat screen

 

treated wood or cedar. if you wanna leave the tv out overnight and stuff, i would suggest putting nice clear plexi glass over the front.

 

Started with tear down of the banisters that lined the porch Sunday, got rained out yesterday(notice all the good wood that got wet), and replaced all the windows today. I've been helping the contractor and his crew by tearing stuff down and learned a good bit so far. When it's all said and done the house will go from an ~R7 to an R14. Paint tested positive for lead so we had block off the area that my mom was in all day, but it already looks a million times better with the new windows! More pics to come.

Demo'd the bathroom at my Girlfriend's condo this past weekend. Plumber comes tomorrow to rough in the new tub, plumbing for second vanity, and new shower valve. I could do all the plumbing myself, however she was adamant on having a licensed insured plumber do the work since she's in a 2nd floor unit in case anything goes wrong.

The room originally had a partition wall with a door (very awkward) and a random soffit over the vanity. It will all be one big room once it's done. We're doing two seperate 30" vanities, all new fixtures, new toilet, tile floor, tile tub surround.

Next step is tear up the rest of the old flooring, re-wire the bathroom, then drywall, then kerdi the tub surround, CBU on the floor, lay tile, then trim, then paint, then install vanities, new toilet, and finish work.

Just look away from the mirror when you rip it out , you'll be fine .

Haha it came down in pieces, no cuts or scrapes occurred fortunately. Whoever installed it used the mirror putty and construction adhesive.

 

Plumber came on Friday and roughed in the plumbing for the second vanity, roughed in the shower valve, and installed the new tub.

We ran into a little snag because the main water shutoff outside wasn't completely shutting off the water. In her condo, they all share the same water (4 units). Fortunately we found a spigot outside downstairs that was able to relieve the little bit of water pressure still flowing and allow water to drain from the upstairs pipes enough so they could do their soldering.

Next weekend the plan is to rip up the combination of ceramic and stick down tile on the floor, re-wire the bathroom, shim out the walls, and drywall.
