Yes there is a space between chimney and wall sheathing. Had the chimney inspected when we bought the house and it is structurally sound and not leaning (was my biggest concern). The house used to be sided with wood clapboards and it was replaced with vinyl siding. Not sure why the gap is there but it looks like the vinyl was not as thick as the wood was in that area.

The rest of the chimney/house intersection is solid and does not have any gaps, it's just in that one area.

That being the case, I'm kinda at a loss for how to deal with this area....

To get in there, I would need to remove the ceiling in the guest bedroom to see whats going on. I have a crawl space attic but it doesn't go up to that space. There is no staining on the ceiling or wall in that corner, but I do get what you are saying. I kinda want to try and seal off that opening at night when the bats are out, then open up some inspection holes in the ceiling to try and keep that bedroom from becoming a nightmare with bats.

just took this picture to show the whole area of concern...as you can see its just where that top piece of trim goes to the chimney. It does look like there would be some water damage behind it even though no real water damage is visible inside the house. Have a buddy that cameras sewer lines and such so he has the snake equipment and I texted him to come on over and see what it looks like in there (thanks for that tip - would of never thought to camera it). After that is done and I know what I am up against, I am probably going to wait until tonight and use the expanding foam as a temporary barrier from the elements while I figure out the next plan of action.

I had the roof replaced when we moved into the house two years ago and the guy didn't say a peep about any water damage over there. Hopefully that means there was nothing to worry about, but he may have just only focused on getting the roof replaced and nothing else.

Replaced windows yesterday on the front. Back is already done. Front had some ugly wooden decoration around it. Looks much cleaner now.
Still need to caulk the windows

Waiting on the big one to show up to finish install. It'll match the rest of the house when done. 8ftx5ft window.

It does everything except hold all of the tools you'd typically have in a box that size.

Figured there would have been more room taken up by the battery, guess not. The 5ah battery isn't going to run the accessories for very long though.

You going in on it OZ?

seems nice but wouldnt want to actually use it for hard work, hands leave too many prints and how much damage could a water spill or rain do?

    It makes sense.

I just am not taking it seriously because the commercial is about as bad as those spray hair products. Seems like it tries to solve every problem, which is far too many to make it a serious thing IMO.

Has its merits. But a lot more attractive to the Pinterest loving Twitter crowds, I would think.

Judging by the team member photos, I am not far off.

I don't use Twitter or Pinterest and I see good value there , replaces about 5 seperate things I pack into a room for set up right now plus waterproof storage

    I like

I don't generally judge my tool choices but what the designers looked like but maybe some people do
