be sure if your tub needs it first

 

Yea,I used fiberglass insulation. Helps hold in heat and deadens sound of Jacuzzi. Just push it in with 1x2

 

I wouldn't do that,we learned the hard way.
You don't want a void under it at all. Unless it is a thick flat bottom then set it on slab.

 

although, the ones i have been looking at seem to have a "Styrofoam" type base to set the tub on and prevent sagging, but not sure how great that may be

We put an acrylic tub in my fiancé's condo last year when we remodeled the bathroom. It came with its own built in foam base that was glued to the tub. It's very sturdy.

 

Real men live with pretty women that like baths

 

That was a concern, the included foam base I've seen. Thanks for the input

 

Or they join them for other reasons

 

Here is the finished sealed countertop with the holes filled in and the backsplash installed. We'll put some wax on it to give it a good shine and more protection (either carnuaba or bees wax).

Just searched for 20 minutes to find this! I just renovated my laundry room and want to use this as a template for a built-in above my washer/dryer to hide the dryer vent, and pipes for slop sink pump
