    My truck makes this noise when it warms up... i notice its worse when its colder out. Any help? At first i thought it was my belts, but im not really sure they look good, no wear and no cracks. any advice?

    I would guess belt tensioner but it's hard to say from just the noise.

    theres an idler pulley? that would actually make some sense... my truck has idled super slow and almost stalled a couple times

    Spray some WD40 on the belt and see if it goes away, if it does it's the belt. Replace the belt and inspect the tensioner at the same time. If it does not go away it could be the tensioner, water pump or alternator.

    Im going to go with a belt. It cant really be a bearing because they are sealed so i dnt think anything could have gotten in. Take off your belt and spin all the tensioner and pullies. If they all spin freely your in good shape. Replace the belt for 30 bucks and it should fix your problem

    I'm hearing a similar albeit less sever noise from my 2008. I was wondering how many miles you have on yours. I have about 52k.
    I noticed the sound at the beginning of this winter, it gets worse on a cold start. I asked the stealership to check out my belts the last time they changed my oil about 2k miles ago but i doubt they even looked at them because it's still making that noise. I have also noticed that my truck has idled slightly lower this winter too... and almost stalled on a really cold startup. Just a few days ago it took a few more cranks to get it started too. Would these all be problems related to the tensioner pulley? Aging belt?

    I'm pretty sure the tensioner pully isn't sealed. I know a lot of the FJ guys have gone and replaced them with sealed ones from Napa.
