We're using one on a project now called Retroplate. It's a polished and stained concrete application for the back of house space in a commercial building.

Product availablility may differ greatly by location but a good place to start would be your local concrete supplier. Those guys usually have a good feel for admixtures, hardeners and how they're applied and held up (mostly because if they fail, they'll get brought to the table along with the contractor to explain what went wrong).

Obviously, another resource would be a local concrete flatwork contractor. They do this for a living and could tell you the in's and out's of various surface applied hardeners vs. a concrete admixture which would be throughout the entire mix, the effects of polishing an old floor vs. placing a topping slab, etc. Lots of options!!

I've gotten a few pics of the work in process. It's been a bit slow since half of the room is being used as storage :\ I'm looking to sell most of the stuff stored in there so I can start sheetrocking the other half. I'll post some pics once I get this half painted.

Anyone have any cool lighting ideas for when I dont need to use the big shop lights?

Here are some pics... I'm about ready to set that stuff on the left side of the garage on fire if I cant sell it soon. I'm not letting my mancave/workshop turn into a storage room!

Ive just about finished the right side. I might go with a little darker tint on the flooring later on though. I will be putting up a powdercoated diamond plate backsplash on the countertop and a strip of galvanized pegboard across the right wall above the backspash, then I'll probably hang some skids or other metal things on the wall to give it a nice finished touch. The left side is still the garage for now until I can get rid of the crap that I've accumulated since I moved in. It's funny how many people have a "nice" item they want you to have when they hear you are moving into a new place (i.e. take my junk)

I've scored a couple of 2nd hand chairs that add a cozy touch to the work shop when it's beer time. The refrigerator is also 2nd hand from a book store that was getting rid of a tombstone pizza set up.
