Ryobi Bandsaw - Anyone?

Just curious if anybody on here has this bandsaw, looking for a cheap small saw for smaller projects. Just want to know how it is.

Also, I can't figure out how much space there is between the table and blade guard, I want to be able to fit four inches under there, most I see say 3 5/8 or something, this one doesn't say anything about it anywhere.

I don't have the Ryobi, but I have a similar Skil.

I checked out about 5 or 6 different "$100" models and every one of them had a comparable height... all just under 4". Just need to be creative on angles for some projects, but on thicker materials, a small bench type band saw really is not that good due to blade wandering and stability.

 

Oh I see. Yeah the biggest stuff I planned on doing would be 4x4 blocks or something. Maybe I'll have to look into bigger ones.

 

I bought mine primarily for roughing in the shape on pipes. For detail work I had always used a jig saw or hand saws, but I can see that I'll be using the band saw for more now that I have it....

 

Thats pretty sweet! My friend made one. I always have been trying to figure out the best way to drill the hole down the pipe..
