I'll stick to the woodstove , it doesn't need power to provide powerless heat , lol

Use a Fisher= probably older than most of the posters here at TW-LOL
ALSO use the "ECO-Fan" They are GREAT.
If anyone is not familiar w/them-You definately need to check one out.
They run off the heat generated from the stove and use ZERO electricty. that is beneficial when the power is out.
They are rather expensive--but- get the biggest one that wiil fit easily on the stove.
    ECO FAN-google it!

My P45 still ran but made some funny sounds. I'll have to check out my inverter. Haven't had my power down for more than 2hr in 8+ years (knock on wood) Be prepared!

Chips don't pay much it's by the ton or load the loggers cut it stack it, chip it and haul it I don't know what they get paid by the ton but it's a good bit more than what the pay the land owner and for good reason. Saw wood is another story it's nowhere near as labor or equipment intensive and brings a lot more than chips. It's pretty impressive to watch the chipper a big skidder feeds as much as it can pick up into the chipper all it does is belch a bit of black smoke. There usually are rated by the number of blades each blade requires 200 HP so a 4 blade machine is 800 HP. Here is a picture of a feller/buncher head (it is about the size of a Tacoma) designed for both saw and pulp wood it is computer controlled each joy stick has 32 buttons and they can be tailored for each operator this particular Co. (and the bank) owns 3 they are 3/4 of a million each as you can guess they never get a chance to cool off.

Tim, I hate to be an ass that corrects you, but that is a pic of a harvesting head. Both a felling head and a harvesting head can be bolted to a feller buncher, but the attachment side of the of the stick boom is different from a felling machine. There are also other structural differences inside the stick and main boom of a felling vs harvesting machine as a harvesting machine will see much less stress in the boom structure due to only handling one tree at a time vs handling many like most felling machine will before the drop the load.

I design feller bunchers/harvesters (800 series machines) for Tigercat, so I deal with these machines everyday... While they are still clean. :p

If you are interested, here is the link to the felling heads that we produce:
    http://www.tigercat.com/models-overview/felling-heads

    And our harvesting heads:
    http://www.tigercat.com/models-overview/harvesting-heads

You'll find that the pic you posted is harvesting head. They are pretty impressive, crazy how complicated they are and how much the on board computer has to process to get the harvesters to work properly!

I have a Schraeder in my basement that looks nearly identical to your fisher. Haven't tried it yet since I didn't have firewood with me when I moved in February.
