Mine's full and I still have 4 cords of dry wood out in the field just in case I can all ways fetch it with the snow mobile. The big white oak is about done got maybe a cord left to split at least it's small enough to split now with out having to handle it with the tractor. It looks like I'll end up with about 4 cords out of that one tree. Not my sled but I had one just like it and I did skid trees with it.

I completed my design for a woodshed the other day. Also started adding some numbers to things and figured my setup will cost about $250 plus siding and roofing for the first section, and about $200 for each additional section. I made a modular design so I could add to it as I have funds available. Haven't gotten pricing on the metal roofing or figured out what I will do for siding yet, but I can look into that over the winter. I have enough space to put in 6-7 sections based on rough measurement, and each one will be good for about 1.7 cord. I figure that once it is completed, that will be somewhere about 3 years worth of wood.

Nice. I like the modular idea. I wish I had the space for 3 years of wood, but I'd need enough space for 15 cord, and that'd be a pretty sizeable chunk of my back yard, and building that shed would get damn expensive in a hurry.

You could build a scaffolding woodshed like the OP did

Nah, the OP's crazy. He refers to himself in the 3rd person. :D

Besides, a scaffolding woodshed wouldn't solve either the space problem or the expensive problem. Lumber's cheaper than steel, or at least it is around here.

Managed to get the house woodshed filled up today , good mix of alder , fir and madrone but it essentially leaves my back 40 seasoning woodshed empty , gotta go on the prowl for some free firewood

    Lol.
There's a huge dead standing old Maple tree just down the road from my house; I check every night on my way home to see if the power company's dropped it yet. GF thinks I'm crazy when I do it when she's in the car, but there's easily a full cord of wood just in the main trunk. I'd guesstimate probably three cord for the whole tree, including the limbwood.

    Pretty sure he's crazy, though...

Fine, Canadians can stay. I'm close enough to the border I'd be worried about retaliation anyway.

I have some questions, not trying to thread jack. I'm looking to get rid of my gas stove and replace it with a wood stove. I have a terra-cotta lined chimney and sleeve that passes through the wall. What I'm wondering is, what spacing dimensions are required for wall studs and insulation from a stove pipe passing through the wall. I'm not sure if this was built with the house originally. The sleeve is 8" in diameter. Don't mind all the dust. I'm in the middle of remodeling this room.

Here at least , there needs to be a minimum 2" clearance to combustibles from the masonary chimney , that will be greater to the black stove pipe

Ok, so if I had something like a 6" pipe running through the sleeve, that should be good to go. Assuming codes are similar. That makes me feel better. I didn't want to have to pay an inspector to come and check it if there wasn't any chance of it passing or being safe.

Here you would need an insulated thimble to be able to enclose the pipe in a framed wall , I just did this at my own house

This is what I used. The box passes through the wall between the studs. Outside the chimney comes out In the middle and the fresh air intake is just above it with a hood.
Don't mind the frost, it was -15F outside when I took the pic:D
