I have two of the Rocky Mounts, and I don't trust the lock to deter thieves from stealing the latch part when the bikes aren't on them because I can just grab them and with a little force, unscrew them.
I also wonder about rust/corrosion, so I put the latch part in my cab when not in use.

    Other than that, luv em!

if you got a tow hitch, you can also get a hitch mount rack. it helps a lot if you want to transport bikes and need the bed space for coolers/luggage/etc. I got one when I get a shell for my truck since the bike would no longer fit in the bed along with luggage for longer trips.

This reply is coming a bit late for you I imagine, but surely it will help someone else out in the future...

I got a $20 skewer mount from Performance Bike and mounted it on my front bed rail using the following (all stainless steel hardware):

    (2) 1.5" long 1/4-20 bolts (could MAYBE get away with a 1" bolt but installation will be a bit more tricky)
    (2) 1/4" washers 1" in diameter
    (2) 1/4" washers 1.5" in diameter
    (2) 1/4" washers standard diameter (probably about 3/4")
    (2) 1/4" nylon lock nuts

Here is how I mounted it:

The 1" diameter washers sits inside the rail with the bolt head inside the rail, the 1.5" diameter washer goes on next, then the skewer mount, then the standard diameter washer, then the nylon lock nut. I used a very small wrench to hold the head of the bolt inside the rail while I tightened up the nuts. It is SOLID! Below are a couple pics I snapped with my phone at night so excuse the poor quality. Any questions let me know.

Hardware in place not tightened down:

Wow a thread I started 2 years ago lol, I actually got a rocky mount for Christmas that year and have used it extensively ever since and it has held up extremely well. I highly recommend it :)
