Project: Beer Bottle Cap Magnets

I thought I'd write up a fun project that I did to enhance my beer fridge.

Step 1: Get a beer fridge. I have the old one from the house (we put in stainless about 9 months ago).

Step 2: Stock said fridge with lots of beer.

Step 3: Drink said beer. (FYI - This is the best step)

Step 4: Save all of your beer caps till you have a bunch to choose from.

Step 5: When sober, prep a workspace with the following:
-Cardboard
-Hot Glue Gun
-Utility knife
-Bottle Caps
-Small Round Magnets (that will fit into each cap)

Step 6: Cut small squares of cardboard (OR paper/old cork bar coasters) to fit into a beer cap.

Step 7: Take a beer cap and squirt some hot glue into the cap - then quickly add a cardboard square. Set aside to cool and let glue set.

Step 8: Add glue to top of cardboard square that you previously glued into the cap - quickly adding the magnet. Set aside to cool and let glue set.

Step 9: Complete all caps you want in the same manner.

Step 10: After allowing beer bottle cap magnets to cool, attach to said beer fridge.

Step 11: Collect new beer caps. (The other other fun step.)

I currently have 58 different caps on my fridge and I'll be looking to add more as I go.

Enjoy!

I did this a few years back. The best part is when your are drinking with your friends. Glue a couple of them to the floor or on the top of the garbage can and have have try to pick them off or up off the floor. It's funny watching them try to pick them up.

For pop top caps put a quarter on top then the popper. That will keep the cap from bending too badly. Increases the variety of beers that can participate.

Great idea... Did you also know you can use an M-16/AR-15 mag to open a beer too?

Or bend it up a little, then move round, do a bit more, move, then a bit more etc

Oh ok. I was wondering how to do this without bending the top.

Thx... Beer cap table was my original idea... Wifey really didn't like the idea initially. Now that she has seen the magnets, I think I can talk her into it.

I picked mine up @ Micheal's on Black Friday. 50 big suckers for $6 or so. I need more though as I am making little goofy gifts for my buds for Christmas. LOL!

I've thought about doing the same thing for my friends as well... I think I got 80 for around 8 bucks at Walmart. The magnets fit perfect... Although, they were a little low for the caps (which is why I used the cardboard. If you can get thicker magnets, it'll help produce a cleaner product.

Ya, the magnets I wanna say look a lot thinker than yours. The cardboard is a good idea I used it because it would raise them so you don't scratch any metal from the ridges on the bottle caps. I will cheap out Wally's World in the next day or so and see what they have.

I made some of these last weekend after getting a few from a convention from a local microbrewery here (St Arnold)

Only difference was that I cut up some paper bar coasters for my padding rather than a box.

Love 'em!!
