Oil based paints banned ?

Seems like many states have adopted a ban against oil based paint.

I need to paint an old patio deck...
and was wanting to use this... but seems no more.

So my question is...
what are my options and what paint can I use...
that will be as easily applied and as durable as oil based paint was for a wood surfaced walk way/deck ?

Here in California...
the local paint stores keep trying to sell me deck and patio stains...
I don't think that will work without completely stripping to the wood's original surface

A Behr stain product was already tried on the deck area that was rebuilt... failed
that just washed off during the first rain.
The deck was prepped and stain applied as per Behr's instructions
but still became a failure... Behr refunded that failure.

But I'm still left without knowing what paint will work similar
to the older oil based paints.

This is up in the mountains where inclement weather constantly changes... and moisture and temps are constantly of issue.

If you know of a good one coat durable paint that will survive more then one season on a high traffic deck/patio...
and is available here in California...

...please let me know what that is.

the decks boards are warping and going to chit.

How far from the boarder are you?

 

You can still get oil based paints, but because of the newer strick voc laws, all the mfg's had to change the formula's. The paints are not as good as they use to be, and won't last as long.

 

Home Depot has stopped selling oil based enamels here in Utah. Lowes and other local paint stores like kwal-howells still do. I love the stuff for wood trim. High gloss oil based enamel looks like a mirror.

 

You can still buy oil based porch and floor paint by glidden. Home depot sells it here in utah.
