1999 Honda Accord gas mileage question?

Ok so there's this guy I just got off the phone with who's got a Honda Accord I'm thinking about buying. Since this will be my 1st Honda I'm not all too certain on what the gas mileage will be. I'm sure someone here has a Honda Accord around a 1999 model that can give me some insight. The car is a 99', 4-door, 5-speed, and I'm assuming it should be a 4 cylinder. The guy told me that he got 33 mpg on the interstate on trips back and forth to North Carolina. Does that sound about right to you guys or is he bs'ing me?

 

Uh, its not bad. It may be true, according to how he drives it. Typically the Accord doesn't get as good as a Civic. My mom's Camry typically gets 26-28mpg but its not a 4cyl. If it is a 4cyl is should get decent. If your looking for a gas saver I'd look for a Civic. But don't get me wrong 33mpg is great!

It's only got a little over 100K on it and he's asking $4,200 obo so I'm thinking if I can get it for the right price it would be well worth it.

 

I had a 2002 Accord 4cyl with auto and it got about 24 mpg in the city and about 30 on the highway. Great car. I traded it in with 86,000 miles on it and it never had a single problem. It also held it's value really well.
