    Had an 04 and I hated it , slow as hell, sucked up gas and the trim was falling apart with minimal aftermarket. Thus why I now have an 06 Tacoma w/ lift and tires that still gets better mpg than a stock Fronty and way more aftermarket :cool:

    I know two people with Frontiers - one uses it daily for professional use hauling around lots of liquids in the bed, the other is just a DD. They both have the same complaints about the mileage being no where near the sticker, the inside of the cab rattling like a tin can full of gravel, and the seat cushining becoming broke down. In fairness though - the professional use truck gets used five days a week all day, so the seat has seen some use in two years.

    Also don't forget that there are a few guys on this forum who are seeing 15mpg consistently from their tacomas.

    You have a lift and larger tires. I bet you aren't factoring that into your calculations. Cause it'll mess it up by 2-3mpg.

    Now we're back to 15mpg. :p

    I generally figure that when you lift, enlarge, and mod out your truck - your own your own no matter what truck you go with. Depending on the quality of the mechanic work, quality of the parts, and amount of abuse the truck gets with those parts will be the deciding factor at how "good" that truck is. As a rule of thumb, I pay more attention to the stock trucks for reliability traits.

    Stock vs stock - the Tacoma has a better rep than all the other "compact" trucks on the market.

    We have it - we just try to keep everyone else thinking we're crazy so no one comes down. Its kinda like negative PR... its good for keeping the neighborhoods lightly populated and left-wingers out.
