steviestyles ^^^ Unless the economy is prosperous and they are taxing the crap out of gas to try and keep people from driving for the "environment".

I wouldn't buy a vehicle at all if gas goes up that high.

I don't pay attention to all those scares of $X gas prices. My truck is paid off so I don't care. I may have a job which requires me to have a fairly long commute so I may buy a used 4 cyl car. Although that's not really for gas prices cause it would take awhile to make up the savings. I just don't want to be putting 30k miles a year on the Taco since I'd like to get at least 150k out of it and don't want that to blow by.

I'd buy a prius....just kidding, as others have said, doubt that would happen under gov't, if it did, sell the SC, get some smaller tires, drive less

keep, but ride my little Ninja 250R a lot more... 70 mpg ftw!

btw, how the f%&* would gas going up be the Government's fault... I say its OPEC and the Oil/gas industry Oligarchy that would cause the huge spike in prices. Exxon, BP, Mobile, Chevron... etc have been fleecing the world for a long time, additionally, OPEC Nations pay for everything from Oil revenues... when Oil $$$ goes up they shell out more... when Oil $$$ goes down they don't... they are completely dependent on the price of Oil. It behooves them to strangle the supply in order to raise the price (but have to be wary of demand). OPEC firmly believes in at least $100 per Barrel oil.

But, remember back in 08? when the price of gas peaked to like ~$4.25... the economy tanked, consumption DROPPED! the all of a sudden gas was like ~$1.60 hmm... makes you think. It was a combination of things but if Gas gets back up to that price it will hurt everyone... consumers and sellers.

I think overall, that the Price right now (while high) is satisfactory to everyone... high enough for Oil/Gas sellers to make record profits, producers to satiate their population, and just low enough not the anger the consumers (Americans).

Short of a drastic REAL cut in supply I don't forsee Gas prices jumping up to $5.00 (unless caused by taxes) because it will hurt both the consumer and the seller... it is a delicate balance. Producers and Suppliers will keep ticking the price up incrementally trying to gauge how sensitive the Market is... they can't afford a huge drop in consumption

Definitely keep. Even at 14mpg I think $5 gallon gas is worth it. It sure beats walking or riding my bicycle 14 miles, which I wouldn't do for $5.

Gas will go up, people will whine and quite driving so much. Gas will go down, people will shut up and start aimlessly driving.

If I get rid of my truck, it'll be because of the excessive repair costs, not because of the gas prices.
