$4 Gasoline This Summer!

With the crude prices up, its a given that we will all see $4 gasoline by this summer.
The gasoline you are buying now is from refined crude when the price was lower , but when that runs out and refine gas from the higher price of crude, you will pay around $4 a gallon!
Thats the main reason why I bought a Tacoma, I need a truck, I haul and tow, I need a truck, I use a truck bed, my truck bed is already damaged and marked up. My Tacoma is also used as a dual perpose vehicle, a commuter vehicle and as a work truck, I need 4x4 cause the road i live on isn't plowed in the winter.
I have a truck with the best gas mileage possible, thats the best I can do!
My Tacoma I expect 17 mpg, (getting 15.6 mpg now) with my former Ford I was getting 11 mpg, thats a 50% increase in gas mileage.http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2011/02/18/here-comes-4-gasoline/

 

Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised, especially with all the turmoil in the middle east.

The oil industry is so damn corrupt and alot of that is due to the lobbyists they have in Washington.

We really need to get off our dependence of foreign oil, it is something that has been said for a long ass time, but very little is done.

 

I agree with you 100%, we need a leader, someone to stand up and take charge so it doesn't happen to us over and over again!
Its just scarry that 2008 is repeating itself all over again, the same thing shouldn't happen again!
It will effect food prices, unemployment, the business you work for will be again cutting costs to the bone.
I hear that the upper midwest of the U.S. has enough oil underground to keep us in oil for 200 years, (don't know if its true or not), but I would start there, what have we got to lose?

 

I think the answer is going to be natural gas for vehicles, we have tons of shale available.

 

The US does have vast reserves of natural gas, but it too is totally corrupted by the governent. If you get a chance check out the HBO documentary called "gasland". It really opened my eyes as to what is going on in this country. Gas companies go unchecked pumping hundreds of dangerous chemicals into the ground poisoning wells and water sheds, and when people come forward they are hushed by the big natural gas companies. I'm not gonna go on and rant but just saying most don't even know what is goin on right in their own back yard. I vote : SOLAR POWER!

 

Yea, that is on my list of shows to watch actually.

 

Unfortunately gas / natural gas are necessary evils...we have no way to store wind or solar power right now other than flywheels that are becoming more popular. While they can help offset power draws in coastal areas or in florida and nevada, the rest of the US is hard pressed to find a benefit from it

Nuclear and electric vehicles will be the next big things...whether the batteries for electric vehicles can keep up with our needs will be the deciding factor.

 

I got some news for ya, we aren't going to have $4 gas this summer.

Mark my word, it's gonna be at least $5/gallon. Furthermore I'd bet it hits $4.50 before Memorial Day weekend!

I hope I'm wrong about this, but as tight as grain (food staple) supplies are, we have already seen corn go from $3.00/ bushel to about $7.00/ bushel in just the past 8 months. Many items seem to be finding new "normal" price ranges, I'd guess we are buying the cheapest fuel that we'll see for the rest of our lives.

 

I have my new Tacoma just for the winter months. For the rest of the year, I commute on fuel efficient motorcycles that get 50-75 MPG.
My 4 cyl. Tacoma, 4x4 with a 5 speed, is *not* very fuel efficient at all - at 18 MPG.
My old '91 S-10 2wd was much better in this regard (but much worse in almost every other).

 

I can't wait to buy my nuclear powered tacoma.

Fossil fuels are so cheap here for many reasons.

Primarily the true cost is placed on the public. We never see the receipt, but we pay for it in terms of environmental degredation, health care and expeditionary adventures in the name of stability. In short, we all freeload off the public burden that goes mostly ignored so that we can have cheap fuels.

Another direct cost we all pay for is 70.2 billion in subsidy (tax breaks for fossil fuels and direct subsidy). We also pony up another 16.8 billion for corn ethanol.

That's like a bad dream compared to the paultry 12.2 billion total for renewable energy (including tax breaks and direct subsidy).

So 5$/gal. is cheap.

STOP UR WINEING YOU GUY ARE ONE OF THE LOWEST IN THE WORLD!!!!!! WE ARE PAYING $4.60 A GAL NOW FOR THE CHEAP STUFF $5.20 FOR PREM

 

Sucks...but oh well, you still have to buy it regardless of the price. Looks like I'm gonna be spending another $150 a month in gas. I can't wait to get my company car, gas card FTW. Also less miles on the taco.

 

Yea, I got gas yesterday and prices were at $3.99. Haha, I would say it's here before summer.

 

I'll buy a bicycle to go to work. 3 miles is not too far.

 

Lame. Nothing like having your pants pulled down and reamed hard with no vaseline. These bastards are crooks and the thought of driving something electric with none of the great smells of burning gas and oil bore the hell out of me. I'm going to introduce my kid to these awesome smells immediately when he/she is brought home....."mmmm, that's a 2 stroke son, smells damn good doesn't it?"
