    I do not run red lights, but I was thinking as I was driving today, are the fines written up according to how many seconds past the red a driver goes? I've seen some people just outright go through red lights that have been red for at least a minute. Are the consequences for scenarios such as those any more than a typical red light runner?

    Nope. Going thru a red light a second after or a minute after is just as illegal. Plus it would be very hard to calculate a fined scaled on time....
