hmm..i guess theyre just gonna keep it as is then and not upgrade. Something about an 8 speed is a bit much for the truck and with constant downshifts would kinda annoy me IMO. cant wait to see the final outcome for the f150.

First off never been a ford fan. Pal up in Ga traded his tundra for a new turbo f150 and loves the thing. He has to tow around a large John Deer and all its crap. The shifting on the ones I have drove is very good (Auto 6 speed) I had to watch the tack to know it was shifting. Not sold yet but will look at all when new ones come out in Aug..

youve probably drove one of the few thats shifts right. i see alot of complaints on their forum about a the 6 speed not shifting right and dont like the fact ford is thinking of making a 8 speed when they cant even fix their 6. they compared it to as windows vista to windows 7 lol

lol people buy stick shifts and blame their shifting incompetence on the tranny, rev hangs, clutch, etc, then buy autos and complain about them not shifting right. I think some people should just sit their ass on a bus.

I saw a forum once, people that post there complain a lot.

OR people with complaints are the only ones posting (when people are happy with something they don't normally start a new topic on it?) I put a link to the F150 forums where owners are happy with the 6 speed.

Bilstein 5100's on all four with some OME 885x's. Brute Force Fab front bumper. Warn winch. Koenig countersteers wrapped with duratracs.
i just vistited the FORD f150 assembly plant in michigan (the Rouge plant) and always been a big fan of ford but when i bought my taco...they really had nothing i was interested in. Ford def has something good going for them now.

everyone who doubts on the ecoboost engine and ford needs to watch the torture tests done by ford on their website. they put a ecoboost motor through HELL (170,000 miles) and took it apart in front of a crowd at an auto show and everything was within factory specs....and i mean HELL more abuse than normal people would see ever (maybe not some of us on here lol) but you get the point

Once i get my career started i think i would consider more heavily on trading the taco in on one if they really are as nice as they seem

I take those company funded "torture test" results with a grain of salt. They don't mention ANY issues. I find that very hard to believe. At least mention that a thermostat went bad at 70K or something like that so we believe this truck actually exists in the real world.

Also, 170K miles in a test over a span of 2-3 years is NOT the same as this truck lasting you that many miles over 15 years. That's the thing people never seem to be able to grasp about high mile, short time frame tests.

The eight-speed will also feature what Ford says is the industry's first torque input sensor. The sensor will measure torque coming into the transmission, enabling faster gear selection, reducing gear hunting and helping smooth out shifts.
"The transmission knows how much torque is needed and will be able to variably control pressure on the clutch packs to deliver smooth shifts," Bakaj said.
Hydraulic actuators that control line pressure applied to clutch plates during shifts will be directly integrated into the transmission case instead of embedded in a separate assembly that's bolted inside the housing, like today's Ford transmissions use. The integrated construction promises tighter component fit and less component flexibility which can stress the sensitive parts.

I would imagine this will work very well.. but if it pukes a computer or something you're looking at 4+ grand

I went through stop and go 0- 50mph traffic in LA in a 4cyl 6 speed auto camry and it didnt gear hunt ;p now you get a 4 speed out of a sunfire or something, it has a hard time finding drive ;p
