I heared all this hype about the great gas mileage on a F150 with the Ecoboost engine, rumors of 25-27mpg. So I searched on Fuelly.com to see if I could find anything and came up with these averages:

    16.3
    16
    15.9
    15.3
    15.7
    17.2
    18.1
    17.5

    http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/f-150/2011
I found only 1 guy who broke 20mpg once.

Someone on here did a review on it and had similar findings. He said once you're in boost, forget it, MPG's go to the crapper. I guess it really only does well cruising down the highway and the engine isn't under much load.

I read an article that the epa mileages are obtained with the best combo of axle ratio to engine and the ecoboost was done with 3.15 axle.

My mom's ecoboost Taurus SHO will get about 30 if you stay out of the boost actually. In town though... shit

Do they even make a 4 cyl ecoboost? Never heard of it if they do.

Is my statement invalid? Same engine... I figured there would be some sort of relevance here

No, sorry, just reiterating the fact that you said SHO... They don't make I4 SHOs

Sooo did they get the 27mpg from a single cab 2wd going down a 5% grade with a 50mph tail wind or what? I don't see how they can say 27 when it averages around 16.

    LOL right..

    I'm 20+ under 65 in the summer.
    I'm < 17 under 65 in the winter.

Cold weather kill the MPG on all trucks...too many factors.

From what I can gather on checking out the forums the ECO Fords are about equal to Tacoma mpg in similiar driving and you get alot more upside in power and towing.

This and bad resale, less reliable. Its probably a good thing for people who want/need a full size, but if it gets the same mpg as a new taco, Ill stick with the taco. It just suits me better, if I needed a full size I would get a diesel.

Fords don't seem to rust out like the Tacos do around here... Just playing the fence guys.
