    So my buddy took his Camry to a shop the other day and they told him the motor mount was broken and needed to be replaced or it wouldn't pass inspection. They priced him at 200.00. I told him to hold off on it. I looked at it and the actual mount itself is not broken, however the bushing is cracked. Nonetheless everything is still all there. I talked to a Toyota tech today and he said there is a revised law in which the motor has to be able to touch the firewall for it to fail, but prior to the law it would have failed. AKA the car will pass inspection. Does anyone here know about this revised law and if it will actually pass or fail? I don't want my buddy to get screwed over if he really doesn't need it. The actual part is only $85.00 and looks easier to replace than changing oil.

    I don't really know about the laws- but why would you want to drive around with a failing bushing?? It's 85 bucks for a quick fix...That seems like a no brainer to me. It'll pass inspection and have a good bushing...

    Yeah I see your point, but the bushing isn't bad. It's still doing it's job.

    Yes I understand. The biggest thing is I didn't want him to be 200.00 in the hole if it wasn't bad.
