Anybody w/ Honda Prelude experience??

I'm looking at this 87' Honda Prelude Si for my daughter.

http://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/2689583156.html

It's in great condition for it's age. However when I test drove it, the automatic tranny would shift out of first gear a 3K rpm's. Is this the norm for this model? It didn't seem to do this until after I tried manually shifting from a stop.

Also the suspension was nice and tight but offered a rough ride. At idle the interior vibrated.

What say you?

Get it inspected by your mechanic to be safe if the guy will let you, honda's are pretty solid though.

if at idle it vibrates it more than likely needs motor mounts it should ahift at 2500 3000 rpm depending on how hard you are on the gas get him down to 15to1700 and its a good deal imo

I too think that's a great deal of money for the vehicle. I owned a 98 prelude that I bought for $10k in 2003. It was flawless when I bought it with like 57k on the clock. No way I could convince myself to buy one that old for that much. Not a chance in hell.

I do

I had and 89 honda prelude from 2000 to 2007. The sound at idle I had, but not real bad, couple good things to check are your sunroof seal, c boots, And the head light motors(listen to them)!

here is a pic of my old one:
