Hey guys - Rob at Thomson Reuters here (company behind this expedition)! Noticed a nice jump in traffic originating here so thought I'd say hello. Yep, this record attempt is in preparation right now (they're on the ice as of Sunday) and scheduled to start next Sunday. So keep checking out the site - www.expeditiontothesouthpole.com - the vehicle is a beast, seeing it in person just makes your jaw drop. We've got a whole bunch of cameras mounted all over the place so you should get some great shots during the record attempt.

Thanks for your interest :) Kieron Bradley is the chief engineer behind the vehicle - our communication with the guys on the ice is relatively limited so I can't promise any answers to engineering questions (I'm a web dev) but if you have any specific questions I'll see what I can do.

This is so great to see!! This line of trucks are my inspiration (and the thumbnail is my wallpaper - on my MacBook Pro AND iPad). I have an Avid lightbar @ the powder coater right now because I LOVE the look of these trucks!! Want to get similar lights - and get my driving lights redone so they look like this truck. I got a color matched grill for my Off Road (and love it) and will continue to view this as my standard - although many of the things I will not be able to do. If you go to their site - they offer two and three day expeditions where you actually DRIVE these -- a dream of mine!! So - now I am done drooling for a bit - happy wheeling!!

Realy cool to have you stop by, Rob!

I think I speak for everyone when i say you've built an incridible vehicle. we'll all be anxiously awaiting updates come next sunday.

Not that any of us need convincing, but I'm curious about whay it was that caused your engineers to choose a tacoma over any of the other toyora 4x4s or a 4x4 for another company for that matter.

Best of luck, to you, the rest of the team, and especially the crew in the truck! Looking forward to following this expedition!

That's a good point - http://twitter.com/2011southpole if you want the latest updates (we're auto-tweeting the latest dispatches from the crew so you'll get to see what's happening). I'll make a note of any vehicle questions and give Kieron a call on the satellite phone when's convenient for him.
