99 Crown Vic Vs 99 Lex ES300

Crown Vic PI has 72k miles on it Lexus has around 120.

Anybody have any opinions on these to? Both are the same price. My dad is looking for power but does understand Lexus IS Toyota...anybody have any experience on either of these?

Lexus, all the way. This coming from a Ford fan. If that Lexus has been taken care of 120k miles is nothing. Didn't say what year it was but I had an early Avalon, which shares a lot of the same drivetrain and it had almost 250k on it before a deer took it out.

Edit: sorry, you said 99. Perfect year for those cars.

120k is nothing for a crown vic either though. They're both extremely reliable.

I'd probably agree with regards to the drivetrain. What about rattles, suspension, etc? Serious question. 1999 was Ford's prime time for quality.

I'm siding with the Lexus because I'm biased haha. However, Crown Vic's are fun as shit to drive...those 72K miles are police miles so it's hard miles I'm sure.

A '99 Lexus ES300 (as most Toyota 3.0 V6's) are right on the oil sludge era. Make sure that the oil used was synthetic, or that the oil changes were done on it's proper intervals!

A '99 Panther will make all kinds of noises, but it will be cheap to operate (other than gas) and will last forever.

My dad had a 99 es and loved it. Drove it for 10 yrs and put 214k on it. Never had any issues except the leather seat ripping twice. He used to drive back and forth between GA and AZ to come visit so he put a lot of miles on it.
Plus the Lexus just LOOKS BETTER!

They do look better, no question. One thing though, highway miles are almost always easier on a car than commuting miles.
