The G8 was a captive import of the Australian Holden VE Commodore.

LOL ITS NOT EVEN MADE BY GM ITS MADE BY HOLDEN PROBABLY BETTER THAN ANY OTHER GM VEHICLE AND ITS NOW GONE CAUSE THEY HAD TO STOP MAKING THEM.. WHY? CAUSE THEY ARE BANKRUPT!

I dont either, they are probably both better vehicles than anything gm would have made, plus you can get the g8 with a 6.2l with like 450hp and a 6spd mt

    Yeah, Kinda right.
Holden is a GM division but it is based in Australia.
It is a shame that the platform will not live on in America. There was a chance that it would live on as a Chevrolet Caprice but now it won't happen.
The G8 GXP is the most powerful sedan Pontiac has had. 415 hp and 415 Ft Pounds of torque!

Having worked with both US GM and Holden - I can see why (at least when I worked with them). The US guys were stiffs when compared to the Holden guys.

I've seen the G8 up close. The fit and finish is much better than anything I've seen from Detroit.
I'm curious as to cost of parts for those that bought a G8. After a few years, it might get expensive!

I'm a proud owner of a 03 Mach 1 Mustang. If I were to get a new one, it'd have to be a 2010 Shelby GT500. I'm not really wild about the 05-09 body style.

The Camaro was developed by Holden, but is made in Canada at one of GM's best plants. Therefore, I would say it's 50-50.

I test drove a G8 GT before I bought my Tacoma, and it was a really solid car. I was impressed, and it was only 350 hp. The fit and finish of that car was pretty incredible. I also drove an 06 CTS V that day, so it was overshadowed by the V, but it was a tighter more well put together car hands down in my opinion. That CTS V was a freaking beast of a car, but it seemed really cheap on the inside. I wasn't about to spend almost $30k on a 3 year old car that felt and looked so cheap on the inside. It was fun as hell to drive and I got some crazy looks from people as it roared by them though.

If you want to put a muscle car up there, put the ZR-1 and the 09 CTS V up there. I voted for the Camaro out of this bunch though.

I hate the new Camaro with a passion. It's big for a coupe. The interior is horrid. Naturally there will be problems with a first year vehicle but some of the problems they have had with them shouldn't happen to any car. With all the hype this car had it really seems by some aspects of the car that it was kinda rushed. However, all the Camaro diehards and old men wanting to relive the old school days seem to be buying them up.

Love the Challengers looks, however, it's entirely too heavy and tall and has the shit Charger carry over interior. Not to mention it's not a good value. Over 40k for the SRT8.

Love the G8 GXP, not much bad to say about that. It's a shame it's dying and they're not going to rebadge it as a Chevy(except for police use allegedly, probably will get the V6 or 6.0L not the LS3)

I'd have to go with the Mustang, it's the best overall package and the best bang for your buck. Interior is vastly improved over the 05-09 models and I like the new updated exterior styling. It's also the lightest by a significant margin so it makes up for the fact that it only has 315hp and is more nimble. It's over 100hp short of the other cars yet isn't that far off in performance. It will be interesting to see how they perform when they get new engine options for 2011. 400hp+ 5.0 V8 in the GT is going to be a nice performer.

As far as mention of the ZR1 and CTS-V, I love the CTS-V, but the ZR1 is way out of the realm of discussion here which how much they cost. They're an awesome performer, however you're still stuck with the same sub-par interior, etc. of a regular Corvette. Sure the insane performance would make most forget about that, but if I'm buying a $110k car I don't want basically the same car as a $50k Z51 packaged C6. That aside though it's still a bargain for the performance you get.
