Access cab beds and Double Cab long beds are the same length. Since you can get the Double Cab in two different lengths the short bed and long bed designations are used. The Access Cab only comes in one bed length which is shared with the Double Cab Long Bed.

Just to make sure we're all on the same page here....

The 2006 regular cab I have now (check the fuelly sig) is considered a long bed, right? FYI, it's 6'2" by 4'5" at the tailgate opening.

Correct Toyota does not make a true long bed (8ft bed) for the Tacoma. There is just a 6ft (Reg Cab, Access Cab & Double Cab) and the 5ft bed (Double Cab only).

Question Extended warranty confusion

Hi, I bought a extended warranty when I bought my brand new truck. Iím thinking to get a Tundra instead to my Tacoma and I start my see about my situation so I decide to call Toyota Finance service to ask about if I can decline my extended and get my money back (because Iím still cover under standard warranty) and they told me this extended warranty run in parallel with the ďnormalĒ warranty, so if I want my money back from the extended warranty, Iím going to get a less that I paid because some part Iím already use by time regardless if the truck have less than 2 years?????

Other big question is if I can buy the extended warranty later or have to be at the moment to finish the transaction?

Can I buy the extended warranty form other dealer or have to be the dealer where I bought the truck?

True. You will get a "pro rated" amount back.

Other big question is if I can buy the extended warranty later or have to be at the moment to finish the transaction?

It is easier to finance that type of warranty into the loan. You are able to come back later and purchase it but usually it has to be paid in cash because the loan has already went thru in the amount that you financed.

Can I buy the extended warranty form other dealer or have to be the dealer where I bought the truck?

You would be better off purchasing the warranty from the selling dealer because they know that vehicle you purchased. I would think it would be highly unlikely to have a dealer warranty a vehicle that another dealer sold to you..

End of Lease buyout

I am coming up on the end of my lease on my 2010 Acura TSX, and I have just a few questions. First here are the specifics to my situation.
2010 TSX 4cyl. no Nav sticker price $ 30,160
Purchase price 25,680 OTD, 36 month lease 237 a month (I put T-n-T down)
End of lease buyout is 17,140. (Honda Finance has the lease)

My question(s) are; 1) Do finance companies still negotiate the end of lease buyout price?
2) Could you tell me the NADA Black Book on my car? I have 29,217 on the clock, and I keep it very clean due to the lease.

Just using the tools at my disposal, its seems these cars are very good 2-3 year old used car buys. They are cheap, 30k mile cars are avg under $20K.
To me this means dealers are getting these cars really cheap, maybe around the 15-17k area.
With that mind I know I can't get the dealer Black Book price on the car, but if I can save a couple grand, I could pay this car of in a total of 4 years (3 for lease and 1 bank financed).

Is a reg cab 4x4 available with the sr5 package and standard transmission for a special order. Also could i get that with rubber floors. Local dealer wont talk to me about it because they only wanna sell whats on the lot

Because you are one person in a sea of many. Usually there is a salesman that goes up to the "Desk Manager," who is trying to work on several other deals at the same time. We get in line.

When we present the initial deal, he has to look at it.

Then he has to figure in the trade value. Trade is not simply valued on KBB or NADA. There are other factors used as well, like current auction values as well as the damage, miles etc figured into the equation. He'll also look and see if the dealership has a lot or a few of the same type of vehicles on his lot and if they are selling or if they are sitting for months. Then he'll be able to decide if he has to stretch farther on the value.

Then the desk man has to get a payoff from the bank if the salesman hasn't already done that.

Then the desk man has to look at the credit. If the credit is great, then he can get a rate and plug that into the equation. If the credit is not so good, he has to guess a rate and/or talk to the finance manager to see where to go.

The desk manager also has to look up all of the specials, rebates etc., and make sure they get it correct.

Do that times three at the same time, on a slow day at a regular dealership, and times four or five at a time at a higher volume dealership.

Add to that all sorts of other things that are going on with the dealership that the Desk Manager has to contend with from other deals that have already gone through and he has to button up.

People that have never worked at a dealership will never understand the amount of regular stress and distractions that go on in a dealership on an average day. Heck, in a fifteen minute period.

Then there is the back and forth because the client/customer doesn't want to pay for the vehicle they are trying to take home. Everyone wants to "wheel and deal" and think we have more room to make a better deal. So we walk back up to the desk manager and tell him how far apart we are from making the deal.

Keep in mind that while I was talking to you that two or three other salesmen had to do the same thing I described above. So now it is compounded by even more confusion going on in the desk managers head.

(Yes, a lot of dealerships have more than one desk manager, but each desk manager has to look at the trade. So he has to leave the sales desk and the salesman and client now have to wait that much longer.)

I have worked at all sorts of dealerships, and no matter what, that part is all the same. Many have systems that make the process go a little faster. But there are other times when the salesman is weak and lets the client drag him around, instead of listening to the salesman and going through the steps for a faster visit.

So after you go through the back and forth process and you agree on a price and or payments etc., you have to go see the finance manager. He has to get the paperwork together, double check the numbers and make sure the credit will work for the deal that was agreed upon. Some are faster than others, and some are super slow.

The Finance Manager has a list of items they have to show you depending on the state laws. they also have a list of items they are going to try and sell you. You can not blame them, it is their job to sell you stuff. Then they answer your questions and you sign the contracts and other papers.

After that the salesman has to go over the car and shoe you how to use all of the features.

Does it take a long time? Absolutely. Can it be a little bit shorter? Yes, buy the car for the price listed.

You don't go to the grocery store, ring up the items and tell the cashier that you only want to pay $100 for $350 worth of groceries, do you? So why do you think it is proper to do that at a car lot?

To tell you the truth, Truecar was sued by the Automobile Dealers Assn. in the beginning for giving false information. They have curtailed their pricing to make it more realistic.

I don't mind those deals because it is one more unit, and I have a chance to sell accessories. Not to mention that most deals are "flats" these days anyway. A flat is the lowest amount of money a salesman will get for selling a vehicle. Usually that is around $150-$200, depending on the dealership.

But they bring you in and I get a chance to show you how I am going to treat you as a client, as compared to how another dealership and salesman will treat you. I pride myself on my customer service.

The light is designed to come on around 2/3 gallons, giving you aprox 30 miles, depending on how you drive.

Items cost more in Canada, because your gov't. charges more for import tariffs. And the exchange rate etc. Each dealership charges for their labor, as well as the mark up on the parts. You can always ask for a better deal on the parts.

As he said before, you talked to an old school salesman or one that didn't know what he was doing.

But if you have your own financing that is cool. However, there are times when the banks will kick the dealership for arranging the financing and you can negotiate an even better deal if you finance through the dealership.
