JAC is apparently a Ford supplier. I think they cobbled together all the parts they made for Ford. For the parts they didn't make (like the engine), they substituted with indigenous designs.

The engine is a HFC4DA1-2B1 2.8L diesel with 108 hp, 177 lb-ft of torque.

Note the Ford OEM tail light on the left, and JAC tail light on the right:

The Chinese seem to be copying all makes of vehicles and changing the names

 

Front end looks kinda like a ford while the back looks like a Nissan titan

 

Of course, JAC clones every pickup, even the substandard ones.

^You can't expect miracles with a small displacement of 2.7L. Similar engines used in the Hilux and Colorado rely on turbocharging.

 

Yeah look them up online they copy all sorts of cars over there (Benz, Porsche, etc.). China doesn't recognize patent laws or something.

 

All they do is change it slightly and it isn't the same. They can't be sued if it isn't identical.

it drives nice, but 30 minutes after parking it, you'll want to drive it again.
