Tailgate Storage - Would You Get This Option If Offered?

The vehicle in the photo is a Smart car, which apparently has a fold-down tailgate.

 

Looks pretty sweet but I guess it would all depend on how thick the tailgate is.

as long as the tailgate wouldnt bend from the weight..lol

 

yea that would be cool. except our tailgates have probably half of that depth

 

anything is better than the tacoma tailgate in my eyes... lol

That's a really nice option but on a truck that's another thing to get broken into. On the smart car, since it's inside, I'd probably use it more often than not.

 

its a pretty nifty idea but i feel like that would be really easy to break. maybe in a car it would work but not so much for a truck where you are gonna have heavy stuff in the back and stuff slidin around

 

I would fill it with lead for protection in a Smart Car. But I like it, although I prefer the concept of a "trunk" in the Ridgeline.

 

it would have to be strong enough to support weight on top of the lip...such as a 500 pound quad...when i throw my quad in the back of my taco the tailgate has to be down and the rear wheels rest on it...i dont think that looks like it would hold up. But if they could design something that did...id be all for it. Safe way to lock up a tow strap, tie downs, bungess, tools and misc junk
