Don't ruin a good name!

I am tired of seeing car companies use the name of iconic muscle cars in order to boost marketability and profits. We're not stupid, well, I take that back. The public is pretty stupid, but for us car guys, were not. I am tired of companies, especially Dodge, using the name of their old muscle cars to market new cars that don't even look anything similar to the original. I thought they did great with the Challenger, in fact I had high hopes, but then they released this:

Teh fuck? It doesn't look anything like a Dart. I like the car itself, but don't use the name!

To me its like discrasing a legacy. It just shows that they are out for the money. Its milking something. Its just a matter of respect.

 

The Chevy Malibu was one of the worst remakes. At least the Challenger and Charger have some powerful options available. Why can't anyone come up with new ideas?

I just don't understand how they can fail so bad at a remake. People will buy the car for the name, all they have to do is make it look similar. Like i said, the Challenger looks great, it actually looks like the original, but the charger, and now this shit? The fuck?

 

The checy malibu replaced the chevelle, that was a fail in its self.

 

The Deluxe was the base model Chevelle. They were hardtops, with basic trim.

The Malibu was a Chevelle package that was offered beginning in 1964 and was the middle of the line model with Small block v-8s and chrome trim, bucket seats, floor shifters etc. They were very nice cars, and are still on the roads today.

the Super Sport Chevelle was the most powerful with a big block, rear anti sway bar, dual exhaust etc.

After 1972, the Chevelle changed a lot and wasn't as popular.

 

What I liked was the final redesign of the Impala.

I know a number of guys who got Impala tattoos when they bought their Supersports back in the 90s.

Now those cars are in the junk yard and they still have their tattoos... and the Impala is basically a Camry

 

They even fucked that up.

283 with 2 barrels.
Powerglide, column shift for all two gears.

I think people would buy the new dart even if they didn't name it.
And that is my point. Names sell, obviously ruining a once great car(s) which carried the now desecrated name is the ONLY way these American car companies can sell the cars.

They would sell more if the cars actually LOOKED like the car they are named after. American car companies would at least have a shot at redeeming their glory.
