1983 Toyota Pickup 5-6K miles

Not advertising for anyone, but I came across while looking for a Landcruiser and wanted to let anyone know in the market for an old school Toyota.

Bullshit.

Brake pedal shows more than 6000 miles of wear on the lower right edge.

Only way that truck only has 6k on it is if it was driven only for extremely short trips with a LOT of stops.

Oh indeed... it's a clean truck, but there's just a few things that are troubling...

The brake pedal wear for one.
Another is... if this truck has not been restored... how has it been cared for during the last 30 years? I've got two 30 year old motorcycles... one with 12k on it and one with 22k on it.
Every rubber part is completely shot. Carbs need a complete rebuild, airbox boots, intake boots, fork seals, etc....

There's a LOT of rubber vacuum lines under that hood, and they look good in the photos, but it's not hard to make old cracked hoses look good for a photo.

Yup.
I'd drop 5 grand on it for sure.
It's clean and straight, and at 3-5k it would be worth it to swap in a 4.0.

Tires look like they have more than 6K miles on 'em. Look at the spare, you'd expect the tires on the truck to look similar with only 6K. Looks like it has a new muffler. Nevertheless, it's a nice truck.

I thought about ALL the rubber components on that truck too and they look good in the photos.

Good point on "short trips" and ... it very well could be a "short trip" truck with lots of stops and starts.

Good eyes there Rich ...

First thing dad told me when looking at a used car was the brake pedal pad.

And it's only a $5 part that nobody thinks to replace when trying to be deceptive on mileage... or maybe they do replace it, but you get 1 of 2 things....

The "40k" car with the pedal worn through and the steel is polished
The "100k" car with a pedal that was obviously replaced and never used... and if you remove it, the paint is polished off the steel
