    i have a 97 camry automatic transmission 141k miles

yesterday on my way out of town my transmission every once in a while at 70mph would start vibrating, and at the end of the trip i even sensed some slippage. this was a 3.5hr trip

my question is, am i able to make it back then get it checked out? i kind of need to get back but i dont want to be stranded on the highway.

I did check the transmission fluid and it's a dirty red. I bought the car used so I have no idea the history.

drove it back with no slipping no weird vibration. could it have been a large load in the trunk, i did have a load there and perhaps that cause it but lifting up the front of the car? im just rambling.

what's the next step, do i get the whole transmission diagnosed or just flush out the fluid.

Best bet would be to take it to a trans shop. Waiting or looking for a quick fix will allow damage to occur. 80% of trans problems can be fixed through the pan, until damage occurs. Then, you're out big bucks.
