My wife had a CRV. It was a 2004, so not the current body style. She absolutely loved it. For her, it worked perfectly. For me, it never required any repairs that she didn't cause. I didn't care for driving it, I found the seating position for tall people to suck. My knees could hit the lower dash with the seat all the way back. Thats not the case on the newer body style ones though, they got a little bigger. If I had to buy my wife another vehicle, it would be a CRV..... probably a slightly used one. Might as well save a few dollars if she is going to destroy it.

My wife has a Honda Element. Great little car. It is very versatile. Easy to clean, AWD and get 24-25mpg. Ours is a 5 speed. Has been a great little car so far and you can transform the inside to do a good bit. Tons of room on the inside if you are tall. I am 6'2" and don't have a problem at all.

My sister has a Nissan rouge... I4, AWD, and hers has leather. It's basically the murano's "little brother". It rides great, has done well in the snow, gets about 25 Mpg, and it's comfortable enough for me to drive on road trips (I'm 6'4 and it's a small crossover). it actually looks pretty similar to that Subaru xv. It is smaller in size, but way more comfortable to drive/ride in than my parents' 99 4runner. Can't hurt to look into one.

Im in the same boat as well. I am thinking along the lines of a Subaru, or a used Audi A4 4x4.

Sounds just like my wife. Definatly go used. The subarus are great

I got my wife a new minivan a few years ago and in the first month she hit a mailbox, another car, and drug the van across one of those giant yellow concrete posts in front of the bank. Mine averages 3-4 incidents a year that require significant repairs.

Effin wrecking crew is what she is. Never a new vehicle ever again

Damn listening to some of you...I must have gotten lucky with my wife and her driving skills...and she is a self proclaimed asain. Reason I say self proclaimed is she is from the Philippines and seems to think that it is in asia. Anyways I bought her a brand new 2012 Acura RDX and she hasn't done anything to it whatsoever. I just wish I could get her to clean the damn thing!!

    UPDATE:

ended up buying the wife a Rav4, my only concern is it may be a bit quick for her driving skills, if it gets wrecked it will hit whatever it hits HARD!

Rav4 v6? My mom has the v6 and it is sketchy when you hammer the gas. It squats the rear and feels like the front end is about to lift off the ground.

After all the opinions, Subaru seems like a good route. Rides great, safe, aesthetics are great and without the electrical problems of an Audi
