So going to a diesel but I want the allison 1000 transit in the cummins. So what do you have or had experience with. I want 05to 07 CUMMINS cause I like that style and cause of straight axle. But love the drive train of Chevy. Going to trade taco in cause it won't pull new car hauler. Just stuck between the two.

Do you plan to leave it stock or put a lift/bigger tires and tuner on it. Both the Dodge and Allison transmissions are weak links in trucks making noticeably more power than stock and running larger tires. Allisons have a decent reputation, but mostly on stock trucks.

Allison is good when beefed up a bit.
The stock 1000 is maxed out with the stock Duramax LBZ. Transgo kit firms up the C3 actuation and bumps it another 50hp or so. More than that and it needs more work.

04.5 to 05 dodge cummins were standard high output and had no emmisions equipment....with the 6 speed they are a great truck, i just traded my 05 with 60hp injectors, intake, exhaust and programmer and you put it in 4th and stomp on it and burn out, amazing power. If the injectors havent been replaced and your looking at one with over 100k it will be needing them soon. I would not buy one moddified, or with and edge juice, my truck was on its 3rd set of injectors at 96k
