So after reading this thread and with my 6 month premium due next month I got some online quotes. I had state farm. Got quotes from Geico, Allstate and USAA.

Lowest from the quotes was All State, after calling around and comparing coverage's I decided to go with USAA. Only $25 more over 6 months but better coverage and they cover up to $5k in aftermarket parts. Customer reviews are also better.

Saved $250 on my 6 month premium and lowered my deductible. Win!

Sometimes getting the best deal in $$$ doesn't mean getting the best deal. Get in a wreck and compare the service you get with Geico to USAA or to State Farm. There is a reason Geico is so cheap.

I've heard from locals that Geico is the same as Allstate in regards to accidents.

Same here, USAA was $60 more a month for some reason, ended up switching to Progressive, isnt my first rodeo, made sure all the coverages were the same, USAA tried to match it and wouldnt budge, sad day since Ive been with them since I joined in 08, but $600 more a year is not worth it to stay with them.

And for the critics my buddy back in AZ had Geico, got in a knarly wreck and he had the money deposited in his account same day as adjuster came and got to pick were he wanted to go. Coming from someone who worked retail for 6 years, the expensive banana republic stuff you think is better quality is the same thing you can get for 1/10 the price at walmart, its all name and brand marketing. though not always the case. congrats on the savings op.

This, exactly. There are definitely cheaper options, but no one can touch USAA when you actually have to use your insurance.

I agree with this statement...thats the only reason I haven't switched out yet... I know I can save about $300 every 6 months with MORE coverage through Progressive than with USAA. But the one time I had to make a claim on USAA, it was quick and easy.

But interesting fact...USAA uses progressive to insure a motorcycle. I'm not sure how that works, but I have progressive motorcycle insurance through USAA.

I made the switch today and will save $1371 a year with increased coverage. You can't beat that. I also got DirecTV to lower my bill $25 a month :)

I was paying 400 a year with USAA in MA, two cars, full coverage

That being said, moved to california and I just double checked, my rates are fucking outrageous now. Gonna have to call them tommorow cuz something doesn't seem right.

Try moving to Louisiana. My wife and I were paying $3000 a year for basic 15/30/15 on my Taco and her Mitsu Outlander Sport. I am all giddy to now pay $1400 a year for 25/50/25 :)

Close, but not quite accurate. USAA doesn't use Progressive for motorcycle insurance, they more or less partner with them, because USAA no longer offers motorcycle coverage. I also use Progressive for my motorcycle, because of the USAA partnership savings.

All USAA does though is connect you with Progressive, and then Progressive gives you a deal for being a USAA customer. Once you connect with Progressive, everything is done through them, USAA has no part in it. I personally had to make a claim and it was handled 100% through Progressive.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
Just checked for geico and only $10 difference a month. not worth having my homeowners going up as well due to no more multi-policy.

Damn! When I moved to Vegas I swapped to USAA because they quoted me I think $113 a month and Geico quoted me $89 but then I told them I wasn't in Alabama anymore and now in Vegas and then the quote went up to about like $168 or $170. But I also have renters insurance and my auto loan through USAA maybe it's cheaper because of a multi-policy thing or something.
