My dad and I are both interested in buying 2013 Tacomas. We both want 4x4 V6 Access Cabs. He wants an SR5, while I would like TRD Sport. Is there much additional bargaining power gained when negotiating the purchase of two trucks at once? Any suggestions or past experiences in a similar situation would be appreciated. I apologize if this topic has been covered, but I did search before posting.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Just make sure yours says "Supercharger" somewhere in the paperwork.

I'm not a 100% on this, but you might want to talk to the fleet manager.

definitely some bargaining power. i went in with a tacoma and my wife's tC to trade in, and we bought a new taco and tC the same day. the salesman sold two cars, took two cars in trade (which they would ultimately make money on as well), and had to work like he was selling one car. we didnt see a lot in the reduction of the price of our new cars, but got what we wanted for our trades, which effectively lowered the price of the new rides.

    .
Push "TrueCar" for best deal --> http://www.truecar.com

Some dealers will accept "TrueCar Pricing" and some won't ... but you can save some serious cash ... especially on 2 units.

Are both vehicles going to be under the same name or independent? That would be the only thing that I can think of. If they are independent, in a sense they are being purchased from two people rather than from one person.

    They would be individual purchases

You should definitely get a better deal, my brother and I wanted new trucks. I wanted double cab 4x4 Trd v6 and my brother wanted a tundra 5.7 4x4 crewmax so we waited for the last day of the month and after 6 hours at the dealership we took home both trucks got my Tacoma for 27,300 out the door and he got his tundra 31 out the door.

UPDATE: I've been communicating with quite a few dealers in my area and surprisingly none have shown any more interest in selling two trucks at the same time than if they were selling only one. Some have said they would give me deal A if we bought two trucks, but after further talking they reveal that they would give me the same deal even if I purchased only one.

My bro-in-law lives in Chicago and he is looking to buy a Hilander for his family and he said he'd see if the larger dealerships will show more interest in selling three cars to three different parties at once.

That's good to hear. Congrats on that! When did you swing that deal? Was it for a recent model year?

That was august of 2008 both trucks were brand new, but I'm sure you'll get a great deal yourself! Good luck and post some pics when you get them

What he said. The person selling you the truck(s) may not even know what this means:p

... ^^^ ... At the "end of each month, quarter and year" ... Toyota dealers around here are very hungry to get their "unit numbers".

The big didfference in the example given by the member is that he and his wife count as one, as in one buying two vehicles compared to two people buying two , one each. I asked this same question some time back and was asked if I was buying both vehicles to which I said no and they said that unless I was buying the two there wasn't much they can above the normal deal making.

a friend of mine a i did this, bought two 2011 TRD sport. You CAN most definatly get a good deal by doing this. take the time to go to 3 different dealerships and compare and tell them that they are not the only dealership you went to. Just be smart in your propositions and don't lowball...just enough so you see that you squeezed everything out of the salesman.

in my case we got 1800$ knock off each truck, free winter tires (handy for where we live and worth 1000$) and free custom KATZKIN leather heated seats (1800$) and a free rust protecting spray (500$). so like i said i squeezed the salesman pretty good but i did it gradually and it worked out awesome.

good tip too, if you can, wait till the end of sept/oct as they wanna clear the lots to get the new models in and are willing to negociate more...

    hope this helps

I'm glad to hear you had success in your negotiations. It gives me hope I can do the same thing. Recently my dad informed me that he's on board if he can get a 2013 SR5 (manual or auto) V6 4x4 Acces Cab for approx 26,500 before tax, title, lic, fees. I have recently shown interest in 2013 V6 4x4 SR5 Crew Cab Long Bed. I'd like to get it for under $30k out the door. Seem reasonable?
