Looking at a replacement. . .

I guess I'm in a bit of a dilemma, seeking some genuine advice from others on the site. Obviously the answer here will be keep the truck but here goes nothing. . .

I'm currently commuting my truck 50 miles a day, four days a week. Fuel mileage is acceptable at 21, but the ride quality is lacking.

A combination of the seats along with the truck factor leave me sore and stiff by the time I reach my destination.

For the past four years it's been fine, as I acknowledged it and have ignored it since owning the truck. It's absolutely reliable and impressive qualities have overpowered my sore back. The Tahoe consumes my weekend travels, leaving my Tacoma as an impractical commuter car.

LONG STORY SHORT:

What would be a good vehicle to look at that is not only comfortable but justifies the switch in fuel economy and value?

My blue book value is showing 7's, which is a few thousand less than the CL listings for other 99's listed. Does that sound about right?

For fuel economy you will have to look at something small, and if you are tall, getting into and out of a small car is really bad on your back.
One good option is a Camry. It is big enough, but oddly the new Camries get better mileage than Corrolas, and they are comfortable. A lot will depend on your budget.

That's the dilemma, I'm 6'6".

I'm searching more for a highway orientated vehicle than I am fuel economy.

Keep the Tacoma and get better suspension and custom fab some seat rails that allow you to sit farther back!

I am 6'4" and I had a Civic for a while. It was killing my back, which is why I like trucks, SUVs or minivans. I have to say, my wife's Minivan is my favorite vehicle to drive, but I doubt that you would be looking for something like that.

Do you have any specific options that you are leaning towards? Car, cross over, SUV etc.

A set of highway-oriented tires like the Michelin Latitude can significantly improve ride. What aspect of the seat is uncomfortable? Have you tried maybe a lumbar cushion?
