Hey guys my buddy just bought a 1992 Chevy Silverado, it's his first truck, it has a new engine in it with 21,000 miles on it. He got it for 1900 pretty damn good and nice truck!

When he presses on the break you hear the engine rev, and whenever the truck is on the Parking Brake light is illuminated. What is the cause? He heard from a friend it could be a vacuum leak. What would you say?

    Thanks,
    Jamie

Vacuum leak in either the hose from the intake to the brake booster or a leak inside the booster.

Tell your friend I'm sorry for his misfortune.

My '95 Suburban cost me $3000 the year I owned it.
I bought it for $2200, put $3000 into it, and dumped it for $1100 when I bought the Taco a year later.

Is his intake manifold leaking coolant yet?
    AC compressor seize up yet?
ABS working properly? Mine would randomly pull hard left... sometimes the pedal just went to the floor.
Voltage gauge reading low, no improvement with a new alternator, but when you "flick" the cluster like a WWII pilot, it returns to 14v?

Could possibly be a vacuum leak. As for the light, could be anything from the abs to the parking brake switch. Its most likely the abs though. These trucks only had Rear wheel abs. Pretty crappy design, most people just delete it. Try unplugging the black box mounted on the brake master cylinder. I also have a 92 and I love it.
