I drove a 2013 Ford Focus this past week in Washington. Went to fuel up and had a surprise, NO GAS CAP?? Looks to be a feature. Is this Ford specific or are all the manufacturers going this route? I wonder if this will play havoc with fuel emissions codes.

Unless the gas door is lockable, there's no way to lock this one though.

And I think the emergency fuel filler looks like one of those inventions that allow women to pee standing.

A little of this and a little of that.
I had a Ford Escape rental car last week & the fuel cap was just a flapper that you pushed the fuel filler nozzle through. Same as yours I assume. Maybe a Ford thing.

Are people that LAZY-they cannot take off a gas cap?
And Ford need to have a special funnel-just in case!
That is NUTS.==more parts= More failure.
    JHC that is a WTF

^Parts count looks the same as a conventional fuel filler, only instead of a gas cap (which is operated every time you refuel), there's a emergency nozzle that's used to fill from jerry cans.

Across the fleet, there are probably a good number of check engine lights coming on each year caused by drivers not screwing in the gas cap tightly. The Ford design removes the human element from the problem.

Only possible drawback is Ford's design seems to rely on door seal to do some of the sealing. Over time (5-10 years) I don't know if that seal can degrade and cause check engine lights.

    Build thread coming soon!
I'm interested in how the dust and rain stay out of the fuel. Time will tell!
