Next generation Nissan Titan gets cummins engine !!

Posted this here just to rustle the diesel fappers jimmies.

http://www.carscoops.com/2013/08/nex...mmins.html?m=1

"In a first for a Japanese carmaker, Nissan announced today that its next generation Titan large pickup truck will be offered with a newly-developed diesel engine.
While Nissan would not share any additional information on the new truck yet, it confirmed that the turbocharged diesel lump will be a 5.0-liter V8 unit supplied by U.S., Indiana-based manufacturer Cummins.

"We have done our homework on the next-generation Titan. Truck owners told us there's a demand for the performance and torque of a diesel in a capable truck that doesn't require the jump up to a heavy-duty commercial pickup," said Fred Diaz, Nissan North America vice president for Sales & Marketing, Service & Parts.

"There is no question that the new Titan will turn heads, and with the available Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel, we expect to win new fans and attract buyers looking for this unique configuration," he added.

To be built at Cummins headquarters at the Columbus Engine Plant in Indiana, the V8 turbo diesel will produce more than 300-horsepower and a torque rating in the mid-500s lb-ft (over 700Nm).
"

So who's gonna trade in their taco for a diesel Nissan?! Lol

Idk if I would trade my taco in for one but I have always liked Titans for some reason. I have heard they get absolutely terrible MPG so it will be interesting to see it in a diesel

A 5 liter, V8 diesel in a half ton seems retarded to me. Just give us the damn D-4D already Toyota!

If I wanted a Cummins I would buy a dodge. Now put the Cummins in frontier and...

Or just give me the 3.0 liter EDI Turbo in a Tacoma

Better yet bring this back to the states

a half ton diesel rig would suit me just fine.

but i am not holding my breath. i remember reading a very similar article that they were gonna do a diesel sedan as well for the USA. that didnt happen..not that i know of.

300hp. 500lb-ft of torque

Nuff said. You could run 37's without regearing and still see decent mpg's.

If you lowered it, it'd definitely rip some roads up with that much torque.

It's definitely gonna be an awesome truck if the price is right.

I'd love one if I could afford it.

Maybe they will now put the 2.8L I4 they tested in the Titan into the Frontier?

I have a friend that works for Nissan on chassis design on the new cargo van and seems to be of the opinion that they will use that frame with the new diesel.

This is all well and good, but it's still a Datsun so no thanks. Slap a diesel in a Tundra and I'm all over it!

I don't understand why people like diesel so much. Ovb other than those guys who tow loads that demand the extra torque. For a mid-size truck i would not want nothing but an unleaded gas engine. They are so much smoother and have a better response. Although I may be negitively biased because my only experience with a diesel is with an 1985 Nazi-Sled Mercedes
