Powertrain and rear suspension subframe can drop down as a single assembly. Interestingly, the rear discs are vented, despite such a tiny caliper.

 

The drop down suspension/subframe is awesome! Wish our front ends did that for servicing.

 

That's cool, i have a family member interested in that vehicle.

Dont the electric motors produce something like 900 ft/lb of torque?

 

130 miles per hour - electronically governed. You could hack one to go a lot faster if you didn't mind violating warranty. My parents bought one. It's the most unbelievable car I've ever driven. Handles like it's on rails and has so much torque you could probably peel the tires right off the rims if you tried.

And here's the amazing thing: stomp the accelerator from a dead stop. Your head slams back into the headrest. Stomp the accelerator while doing 80. Your head slams back into the headrest. The torque does not have a curve. It's a little weird and takes some getting used to. I want them to make a truck.

No, 443 lb-ft of torque at the "crank", available from 0 rpm.

Keep in mind there's only a single 9.73:1 reduction, so it's 4300 lb-ft at the wheels.

A Taco 6-speed in 1st gear puts down 266 x 4.17 x 3.73 = 4100 lb-ft at the wheels.

 

I wouldn't want to drop the subframe for servicing - you'd still have to disconnect wires, brake lines and shocks. I think they dropped the subframe for motor/gearbox replacement, which on a combustion car would be the equivalent of an engine change.

 

That caliper is actually just the parking brake.
