I've got a 351 Cleveland with an absolutely stuck distributor. I've looked for solutions on the interwebs and have tried what I could, with no positive results. I've tried:

    -WD40
-PB Blaster - Been soaking for 48 hours
    -CRC Freeze Off
-Corrosion Block - Currently soaking in
-Heating it with a propane blow torch
    -Ball peen hammer
    -4lb Sledge
    -Very large Channel Locks
    -Pry bars

I've even heated it up with the blow torch and then doused it with Freeze Off. Also used a cheater bar in conjunction with my a Channel Locks trying to turn the distributor. I've gotten no where with it, other than the distributor starting to crumble from all of the abuse.

finish taking it apart, drop oil pump, see if the 4 pound sledge will loosen the distributor from the bottom side at the gear end....gonna need a new distributor anyway, best I can come up with..

do you have a pipe wrench of significant size, you will get a whole lot of grip over channel locks on the stem coming out of the block...you may want to try that first....

I am assuming this is getting a rebuild?

    good luck...

Yup, rebuild for school. I'll have to go get a pipe wrench, but I'll give that a shot. I also still have to get the oil out of the pan.

So, I tried the pipe wrench with a cheater bar. It turned, maybe, 10*s. Only problem, is I really don't have a way of applying upward force while rotating. Also, I need to figure a way to hold the engine stand still. Haha, it was turning the whole freaking thing and pushing my work bench out of the way.

that's progress, apply liberal lube and twist it back and forth, probably rusted in pretty good....

If you're talking about where the timing chain cover goes, there's still a gasket on there. You are correct though, this engine was sitting for a few years.

I finally got it out. After only being able to rotate it with the pipe wrench and cheater bar, I dropped the oil pan and the oil pump. Once I got those out, I flipped the motor over to access the bottom of the distributor where the oil pump shaft connects to it. Using the oil pump shaft and a 4 pound sledge hammer, I was able to persuade it to give up the fight. The pump shaft and distributor are trash now. Haha.

Doesn't seem to be any damage to the port, but I'll have to clean it up better to be certain.

The opening for the distributor is gonna be okay, needs to be cleaned of rust and you should be good to go....

    Old school FTW...
