A friend of mine has a Ridgeline; it's a really nice truck. The only problem I've had with them is that they're only available in an auto. And personally, I can't own an auto... it's got to be a manual transmission. If the Ridgeline came out in a manual, I would be buying one instead of a Tacoma.

I felt they same way about manuals when I was younger. After a few years driving in bumper to bumper traffic to & from work after college I changed my mind. Now I drive autos.

Wow, that is an ugly looking vehicle. I think that body style looks far worse than the current one. When I bought my taco last year I was torn between the 2 if it had been this new body style it wouldn't even have been a tough choice.

Heres to hoping theres a different US version!
Actually looks pretty good to me aside from the weak crossover looking front end. Side and back looks pretty nice as does the interior

I think it looks good. I'd have no problem driving that if it has modern performance (ride/handling/power/fuel economy), it can tow at least 6000 lbs and it comes in the configuration that I want (double cab, short box, 4x4, V6 or diesel 4, manual, fully optioned.) Hopefully, the North American version is released soon. I look forward to the comparison tests between this and the GM twins...it's time for Toyota to step up and release a completely revised and modern Tacoma.

A lot of the websites are calling it the Nissan navara not the frontier even the video says its the global launch of the navara. So this is likely not the american version.

^Navara is the same as the Frontier (Nissan doesn't have the Hilux-Tacoma dicotomy). There may be minor equipment differences. For example, Frontier may lose the automatic climate control. In a way this is a good thing, because it prevents Nissan from ballooning the Frontier's size, lest it become unusable in Europe and Southeast Asia.

    Carscoops article http://www.carscoops.com/2014/06/all-new-2015-nissan-navara-frontier.html

FYI Nissan also sells a big offroad-worthy SUV called the Patrol in international markets to compete with the Land Cruiser. In the US it's marketed as the QX80.

Keep in mind Toyota's recent batting average:

I would not be surprised if the 2016 Taco turns out to be way uglier.

The new Chevy Colorado's DI V6 has more than 300 hp. Whatever Toyota comes up with better be competitive, or they're gonna loose the midsize truck battle pretty fast. I would expect the next Tacoma V6 to be more than 300 HP.
