Hey guys not my truck but I thought I would throw it up here and see what tacoma world thinks. So my boss I plow for has a 2012 gmc 2500hd extended cab short bed. He has a 2.5 inch leveling kit on it and recently put aftermarket 17 inch rims and bigger tires on it. Stock it came with some 16s and small tires. Not sure the exact size but with the aftermarket rims at full lock they rub the inner fender wells pretty good. Now he recently bought a 2013 gmc 2500hd and wants to swap rims and tires but doesn't want them to rub. He wants to do a 3 inch body lift and that would clear the tires. I told him don't do that just do the leveling kit and deal with the rubbing. What does tacoma world think the best option is?

body lift is shit. More work, more money and horrible payoff. Do a leveling kit or his case, torsion bar keys.

That's exactly what I told him. He just doesn't wsnt the rims and tires to rub and I said well either you go a 4 inch full suspension or torsion keys. With they keys it's still going to rub, witch he doesn't want. I said deal with it there isn't a solution unless he gets smaller tires.

Yeah, tell him to trim the small area it does rub or maybe spacers or aftermarket wheels with different wheel specs, maybe less back spacing to push the wheel out just a tad.

Tell him to go with any 4 inch suspension lift, thats what I would do.

Suspension lift, might as well do it right the first time so it's capable of more than just sitting in a parking lot or romping through grass fields (ahem* pretty fairy truck*)

Unless he wants it to do just that, then he could do a torsion key or another leveling spacer kit

It doesn't go off road at all. It's all highway and pulling a trailer or pushing snow so it doesn't have to be capable of wheelin. So I think we are going to do the torsion keys and live with the rubbing

Most of the lawn care/plow guys I see in this area run stock trucks with stock size tires for winter plowing. If a guy has his plow truck all pimped out, I figure he is charging too much to mow lawns and push snow.

Nothing wrong with making some $. He's got 2 2013s and a 2012. All lifted with exhausts and tuners. He must be doing something right. Except for the rubbing tires on his personal truck haha
