Not sure how many Acura fans there are here. My wife has a TSX special edition which is quite a nice car.

I was reading an article last night that Acura plans to bring the TL and TSX production to an end. They're to be replaced by the new TLX that was just released. They want to concentrate on their profitable SUVs. Plus the new NSX is to be released soon. That isn't usually much of a money maker however.

Kinda sad to see 2 nice vehicles get cut. The last gen TL was a more spirited car in my opinion than the current one, but still.

The 2nd gen TL was pretty nice and I recall seeing a lot of them on the road. The styling from the 3rd gen on became ugly in my opinion.

I liked the TSX, based on the Euro Accord which competes with the BMW 3-series in Europe.

I'm a big fan of the 2nd gen TL and especially the CL Type S 6spd. But the Autos in the 2nd TL are known to grenade due to a poor engineering defect which Honda kinda admit by extending the warranty and adding a bigger transmission cooler

^If I remember correctly, the 6-speed was the transmission to get, since the car also came with a Quaife mechanical LSD. :)

A very sweet 6spd indeed with the Torsen LSD. I hear with the Comptech supercharger it was quite a E46 M3 killer...... in a straight line :D

I still want one but it's so hard to find one in good shape, low mileage, or not ghetto modified since 2003 was the only year the CL Type S 6spd came with that Torsen LSD.

Not even close. Had the top model Accord coupe 6 speed 6 cylinder prior to the TSX. Not anywhere near the same or quality of the TSX. Accord had an awesome motor (270 hp), but the rest of the car was cheap.

We opted for the fuel efficient motor with the TSX 4 cyl. Gets 37 mpg consistent on highway. 32 mpg just normal driving. Super solid quiet smooth vehicle.

I agree with you on missing the TL. I think it was a good platform. The TLX is ALOT better than the TSX. Its is wider and lower. The push button transmission on the V6 definitely takes some reprogramming of the brain to accept it.

That's pretty damn good for a 200 hp motor.

Interestingly, curb weights for the Avalon and TSX (2014) are nearly identical. So one could guess that the Avalon has the edge on efficiency/power.

200 lb difference at the top end models, IIRC.

I think it's amazing that the I4 motors today are putting out better numbers and better MPG and still yet, better driving motors than the V6 was 10 years ago. The MPG and performance of today's V6s are impressive.

Too bad that skipped over the Tacoma V6 and I4 options.

referring to the OP: You cannot tell the SH models from the front. They have SH-awd badge on the trunk and there's a drive shaft if you're underneath it.

The one I was looking at was not an SH. It had the all wheel steering, which is what you get if not the SH awd. Pretty nice car. Had an 9 speed transmission and 290 hp. My wife wants to test drive it. That can lead to bad things.

We are really happy with the TSX though. It's just a really solid fun car.

The 3.5 V6 TSX has 280 hp, but i don't think the mpgs are all that great. Probably averages in the mid 20s. The 06 accord v6 that we had averaged around 25 with 268 hp.

Now, this is all relative. We're talking about motors producing upwards of 300 hp and still getting mid to high 20s whether Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura. Overall that's pretty impressive.

I'm actually glad to see the TLX. I've owned Acura products in the distant past (for a fairly new car company anyway even though it's still a Honda) and Acura seems to have lost their way over the last several years. Not in terms of functionality or reliabilty but, for inovation and looks. I think Honda in general is suffering from that problem (the latest Accord might be an exception). To me, their products are no longer "cool" like they once were...I'm hoping the TLX & NSX can trun that around. I think a real fix is to creat on "F" series like Lexus or "M" like BMW but, to be accepted as a real performence car they need to introduce some rear wheel drive product which I think Honda is just too conservative to do at this point.

I agree here. The TLX is on the right path... with the SH-AWD. Not a big fan of the new RL w/o the SH-AWD. Picture paying $50k+ for a fWD

Yeah Honda/Acura has lost their ways. The civic is horrible to look at. But on the plus side it drives good, efficient mileage wise, reliable, etc...

Talk on the web recently have said there might be a possibility of the return of the S2000 with a 2.0L Turbo 350+hp RWD. Like I said it's still on the talk stage.
