    Had to share this story

I think most of us if not all of us on TW get this from time to time. Pulled up to our local garbage dump to do my weekly trash run and just as I get out of the truck up beside me pulls a Silverado that is lifted, looked to be on about 35s or maybe bigger. As he walks by my truck passing me he says "nice looking little truck". I could already tell by the look on his face before he said it that he had the big truck syndrome. I didn't let it bother me as I responded that liked his truck too. Then asked about the mpg, I guess it just came out as in a way to show a way that my truck was better. Idk, it just came out. Anyway I thought that was the end of it but as I got in my truck his wife/gf was sitting in the passenger side with the window down and was almost right beside my door and I heard her give a little smirk as if she was laughing at my truck. Could have been something else, who knows? Couldn't tell if anyone was in the back seat but even if I could only imagine it was a comment aiming at my truck since she seemed to try to hold back from laughing since she realized I was right there as the smirk came out.

I just get sick of the big truck thing. I get it on the road fairly often. Someone in a full size, particularly if lifted they seem to almost always want to jump on my ass as to say get a real truck. My wife says I'm crazy that they're just in a hurry but I say it's a man thing that they want to show me up. If I wanted a full size I could have had one for near the same $. Hell I traded a Hemi Ram 2wd for this truck. So to all the big truck guys that have the big truck syndrome :brianr:

    End rant.

Edit: if he had just left out the word "little" it would've been fine.

Meh, real trucks don't have spark plugs IMO... Everything else is just a car [IMG]

People just aren't smart enough to realize different size trucks are good for different things. Since he has a lifted full size truck he has the lift for show, where you have a lift for off road (I think) so he probably just thought your lift was for show too, hence his comment meaning "mine is bigger so mine is better".

As long as he's paying, she's laughing, I guess. Dumb is forever.

Let's not let grown men get to us. Just keep in mind the advantages of tacomas over lifted full sizers for future confrontation.
Either tell him to grow up/ act your age/ "I'd like to see that drop bracket lift break on the trails"/ let me know when you get stuck/ etc etc.
Just forget the mpg comeback, it'll give them sissy humor as shown by his passenger.

I have both a Powerstroke and a Tacoma. I can tell you first hand that I am glad I don't have to daily drive that diesel, it's an awesome truck but is a proven workhorse and nothing more. It rides like an old hay wagon, but can pull a house off it's foundation rolling off in first gear. It stays parked unless I need it, sure is nice to have when the time comes. When I sold my 2011 Tacoma, I used the diesel to go get my 04 and tow it home, piece of cake! Didn't even know the Taco was behind me, 75mph up every hill and didn't slow down.

Exactly same with me. 2011 f350 twin turbo diesel. Love driving it on road trips and hauling the boat/hay with it but I wouldn't want to daily drive it, to big to park. Although it is the most comfortable truck I have ever been in..

Nothing wrong with a 7.3! They are a tried and true diesel engine, I wouldn't even consider any newer Powerstroke after the 7.3. My 1997 only has 180k original miles on it, it starts every time when the need arises.

Yeah, those newer 6.7's are supposed to be real nice I've heard, too much money for me though and I love the simplicity of my old 7.3.

My Dad had an 09 Duramax up until he passed away and that was a really nice truck.. I wanted to keep it but couldn't afford the $800 a month truck payment and crazy high insurance on it.

don't let it get to you. our trucks ARE little. maybe he was paying you an actual compliment. if he was trying to insult you, forget it anyway, he's an asshole. people who say things like that unprovoked have some other issues goin on.

Our 6.7 is the nicest engine I have ever driven and I have driven all ford engines and the new duramax and cummins. Don't need to tune it at all, yes the new admissions crap sucks but isn't terrible.

Sorry about your dad man, but truck payments are never fun, I learned to just pay for the whole truck at once.

Don't get me wrong I loved my Ram and really enjoyed driving it but it was a pita to park and it was a bitch to fit in the garage which I do every day. I love being able to keep it in the garage for the overall upkeep and for cold winter mornings. I didn't tow anything with the Ram so I really didn't need that beast. Plus I wanted a 4x4 and had always wanted a Toyota 4x4 since long before they were known as Tacoma's. I love my Tacoma but I just get tired of the crap. I respect your vehicle and your choice of vehicle even though I may not like it for me.
